FRUKT were representing at last weekend's Back2Black festival down at Old Billingsgate market. Born in Rio de Janeiro and aiming to 'bring Africa back to Brazil', this was the first time the festival had come to London.
A celebration of the African musical diaspora, festival goers were treated to a stella line up of stars, up and coming and obscure acts, from Roots Manuva and Macy Gray to Toumani Diabate, Vieux Farka Toure, Jorge Ben Jor and Gilberto Gill.
No brands here. Just the Barbican's power and might wielding it's musical sword…..and a lot of Brazilians. Slickly produced and a testament again to the diversity of people and culture available in London.
Expect a lot more Brazilian cultural flavours wafting around the capital over the next few months. Expect a lot more around the world over the next few years.
