FRUKT headed down to the Vibe Bar on London’s Brick Lane last week for a dose of circus, contemporary music and theatre, courtesy of innovative new arts collective, Platform 33.
Platform 33 is curated and run by a group of young people (FRUKT’s own Ed Foster included) who are passionate about the arts, showcasing the work of a broad variety of emerging talent, be it music, mime, street art or dance. Each act that takes to the stage is given just 33 minutes to inspire and educate the audience with their particular art form.
This event, Platform 33’s fourth outing, was testament to the ethos of this new night as it fused together a wildly eclectic mix of contemporary performance art; from the dulcet Jazz tones of the critically acclaimed contemporary music ensemble, Living Room in London, to the beguiling Hula Hoop dancer and circus performer, Silvia Payone. The evening was rounded off with a new one man, one act play from the Grist to the Mill Theatre Company, music from Platform 33’s resident DJs and naturally plenty of artistic chatter.
A great night, and a clever little concept that manages to bring together performers from across the artistic disciplines to champion creativity in all its forms.
