Despite netting a dismal ad response during Oscars night (the brand scored the second worst performing ad of the night, according to Ace Metrix, tailing just behind JCPenney’s efforts), Stella Artois is now forging ahead with its annual Cannes Film Festival sponsorship.
The new Casting Call campaign, based yet again on the brand’s international playboy character Jacques d’Azur, is offering up the opportunity for one lucky man to star as Jacques in a short film about his life
Not only will the winner secure his place on screen, but he will also get to live the Jacques lifestyle at Cannes itself.
The winner will stay in Jacques’ suite at the Carlton hotel, eat at all the best restaurants and receive red carpet treatment at exclusive after parties – one of which will be a celebrity attended event at ‘Chez Jacques', Stella Artois' luxury, invitation-only lounge at an exclusive beachfront property in Cannes.
Participants will need to act out prepared scripts and upload their acting performances online in order to convince the voting public that they have the charisma, charm and talent to play Stella Artois’ leading man.
But what of the female drinkers you say? Stella Artois has that covered and is running an additional competition to find Eva, Jacques leading lady – a sort of Bond girl of the jet set independent film generation.
The final version of the Stella Artois short movie will be screened at Cannes Film Festival 2011.
