Weather-controlled music video

Sony Music’s Phil Clandillon and Steve Milbourne are carving themselves a reputation for creating innovative music videos. They were responsible for the Editors’ hack of Google Street View, the Kasabian/Umbro live Guitar Hero video and AC/DC’s ASCII art Excel music video.

Now they have created an interactive music video for singer/songwriter Lissie’s single Cuckoo. The video runs on her website and is influenced by live weather data. The singer and her band filmed against five different types of weather.

The viewer can select any city or their own location to view the music video against the backdrop of the weather in that place. If you move to a different location, the song carries on, but a TV weatherman provides a quick weather forecast update before the video backdrop changes.

The app basically grabs the nearest live weather report, and is updated every hour.

The song is taken from Lissie’s album, entitled Catching a Tiger.
