Welcome to the second instalment of FRUKT’s design flavours.

Before we begin chatting about design, a big shout out to Pantone who have unveiled a new colour in honour of pop icon, Prince. The shade, known as ‘Love Symbol #2’, is a dark purple and has been developed by the Pantone Colour Institute alongside Prince’s estate. It’s a beautiful colour and a thoughtful homage to a legendary artist.

With the launch of our new website, we’ve been looking at how other brands approach the challenges posed by small screens and the changing habits of their customers. We also look at data – ‘Information is Beautiful’ brought data visualisation to the masses and made even the driest of stats delicious. We see where it’s heading next.

And last but not least, we delve into patterns. In particular, nature and its influences that are currently taking over our lives. I’m pretty sure you’ve seen a tropical leaf pattern at some point in the last couple of months! Joking aside, there is a role for patterns to play and with the likes of Patternity leading the way, people are more aware of their potential and how they can be used to communicate that extra layer of personality a brand possesses.

“Somehow natural forces conspire to bring about something that looks quite beautiful. The patterns capture and reveal the results of dynamic energy combined with physical law.”
