Nando’s asked FRUKT to create an attention-grabbing soundtrack that matched the fast-paced video of their new PERi-PERi campaign - a bold, colourful film that reflected their South African roots and captured the culture clash of modern South Africa. The soundtrack had to appeal to a UK audience and champion the spicey flavors of PERi-PERi and the spirit of South Africa’s contemporary beats and new ways of thinking.
Taking inspiration from our strategic platform, the Nando’s “Music Exchange”, we aimed to sourced from a mix of both South African and UK culture. South African sounds would help to maintain authenticity and compliment the video's dancers and street painters. Meanwhile, UK producers could bring a taste of UK club culture to the campaign, connect with local audiences and get people dancing in their seats.
We selected fast-rising Nando’s ambassador and South African producer Muzi, and chose one of his unreleased tracks ‘Zenzile’ as the base track. After filtering a handpicked selection of key producers, we engaged one of the UK’s most popular DJs, Hannah Wants, to take Muzi’s track and give it a UK club rework, ensuring it worked both as a major dancefloor anthem and a perfect fit for the visuals.
FRUKT was involved in all stages of its production, guiding the track from raw demo to a mastered edit that would shake the speakers in cinemas where it was initially screened. FRUKT also managed the complicated rights set-up in this, with remix licensing via Hannah and her team, alongside master and publishing agreements with relevant rights holders, all managed by us.
